The Trent Excalibur were the host of the 2022 Baggataway Cup, they were the CUFLA East top seed, and as of Sunday afternoon they are the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association champions.

Trent gave up the first goal to the Brock Badgers in Sunday's championship game at Justin Chiu Stadium on Trent's campus on the banks of the Otonabee River in Peterborough. Then they went on an 8-goal run to lead 4-1 after 15 minutes, 7-1 at half time and open third-quarter scoring just nine secones into the second half.
Brock did respond to that run with back to back goals from Andrew Rybka and Sam Leclair, but Tyler Hendrycks scored his fourth of the game with 19 seconds left in the third quarter, restoring momentum to the Excalibur. With Brock having to take risks in the fourth to try to create chances to get back into the game, Trent made them pay with a pair of goals from Cole Hanrahan then a final marker from Colton Armstrong to delight the full stadium that was about 80% or more cheering for the home side.
Hendrycks led all scorers by adding an assist to his 4 goals for a total of 5 points. He was just as impressive as his stats suggest. Hendrycks used his size and strength to bull his way through checking when he found himself covered by a player with a short stick. Even with both of the short stick defenders being named members of the All Baggataway Cup team—Trent Hunter as a general middie and Mitchell Armstrong as the short stick D middie—Hendrycks was just too much as he drove to the net to bury chances in close for 2 goals in the first quarter and another in the second.
When Trent didn't have Hendrycks using his power, they were moving the ball and hitting Cole Hanrahan—who was second in CUFLA in regular-season goals—on off-ball cuts that left him alone on top of the crease, leading to 4 goals for him.
Connor O'Toole played well in net for Brock but Trent just generated too many chances and overwhelmed the Badgers with possession from faceoff success by Aidan McLaughlin and the draw team as well as hard work on ground ball battles. At the other end of the field, Jackson Brown was again stellar between the pipes for Trent.
Hendrycks was named Trent's player of the game while Hunter earned the honour for Brock.
